About this place
Turkish rice, a dish of chicken rice topped with a cutlet, is a hearty choice on Hongkong’s menu. It costs 850 yen, and diners who have ordered it describe a substantial plate with a large cutlet. One person also found it pleasantly nostalgic, even on a first taste.
For a wider mix of side dishes, consider one of the set meals known as makunouchi bento. Several versions are listed, with combinations that may include hamburger steak, fried prawns, Japanese omelette and crab croquettes. They offer a way to try several yoshoku-style dishes when choosing just one is difficult.
The Hongkong Lunch, named after the restaurant, is listed at 1,000 yen and comes with fried prawns, fried young chicken and rice. One diner’s order also included miso soup, salad and Napolitan spaghetti, making it a meal of fried favourites with a taste of old-fashioned Japanese-style spaghetti. They reported that a small coffee was served afterwards, too. It may suit a day when you want to take your time over lunch.
The restaurant is open on weekdays from 11:30 to 15 and is closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Payment is cash only.
